Cimetière National d'Arlington
Depuis mai 1864, le cimetière national d'Arlington est le principal cimetière militaire et sanctuaire du pays, honorant les hommes et les femmes qui ont servi dans les forces armées. Aujourd'hui, le cimetière national accueille les funérailles des militaires tués sur les fronts d'Irak et d'Afghanistan, ainsi que celles des vétérans de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Le Musée national d'histoire naturelle (NMNH) fait partie de la Smithsonian Institution, le plus important complexe muséal et de recherche au monde.
Sa vocation est d'éveiller la curiosité, la découverte et l'apprentissage du monde naturel grâce à ses recherches, ses collections, ses expositions et ses programmes éducatifs de sensibilisation inégalés.
Ouvert en 1910, ce musée au dôme vert, situé sur le National Mall, fut l'un des premiers bâtiments de la Smithsonian Institution construits exclusivement pour abriter les collections nationales et les installations de recherche.
